Story
The Tree of Knowledge is a story that many people know. When I looked into this story further for this collection I came to the conclusion that there could be two trees. The tree of knowledge and the tree of life. In contrast to the tree of life I believe the tree of knowledge to be a warning rather than a gift. Knowledge is a gift, one that is something that can protect us from harm. However more often than not we acquire knowledge from our past mistakes, and if someone believes themselves to have to much knowledge they can become too prideful and arrogant. For these reasons I see the tree of knowledge as a warning. Something to be taken with caution, for fear that you could be lost to it completely.

At 4”x6” Knowledge is framed in a standing antique gold finished, double glass, floating frame. Knowledge is hand painted with watercolour and alcohol coloured inks on hot press watercolour paper. The golden background gold ink with patches of gold leaf work to provide shine and texture. Line art is done with a quill and india ink to give it deep richness.
