Story
The story of The Two Princesses is a lot like any other, the two sisters are mistreated. In the jungle they come across a palace that belonged to an Ogre, the Ogre happened to be out so the Princesses went in to get some food. When the Ogres returned the Princesses hid, the Ogres noticed that things where out of place the Ogre and his wife began arguing. To save themselves they ran from the Ogres and hid in a tree.
Much later the younger sister went out, leaving the elder sister alone in the tree. A vizier was cooking a bird for the king to eat. He burns it and so the elder princess gets him to promise to not tell that she is there and in exchange she helps him make food for the king.
The king then threatens the vizier and wants him to tell who made the food and he tells about the princess that lives in the tree. the king is fascinated and goes to find her. So he takes her to marry her and she happens to have a bag of mustard seed so she leaves a trail for her sister to follow.
The elder sister was loved by her husband more than any of his other wives so they become very jealous. When she became pregnant and gave birth they replaced the baby with a lump of coal. The king was very upset and he threw her in prison. The other wives threw the baby out the city gates.
Fortunately the younger sister had followed her sister here and was living just outside the city gates herself. So she raised her sisters son. As the boy got older the younger sister made him a wooden horse to play with. He would take this horse to where the king would water his horses and tell it to also drink. One day the King asked the boy how a wooden horse could drink, and the boy responded (how he was told to by the younger sister) “how can a woman give birth to a basket of coal?”
The king was so shocked that he followed the boy home where the younger sister told him the entire story. He was so happy to have a son that he acknowledged his son as heir to his empire, he restored his injured queen to her position and rank, and he amply provided for her younger sister. The two sisters where never separated again.
